Drinking Horn

Cost:
Raw material:
Horn NOK 25-75 (Approx. USD 3,8-11,5)
Leather (scrap)/leather string you’ll have this from some other project.
Time:
2.5-6 hours (the guy said he used 2,5 hours, I am guessing someone who have never made one before use some more time.)
Other Stuff You Need:
A knife
Saw
Leather needles
Leather hole puncher

My brother, Mom and I were at this viking maked. There were a couple of shops (tents) selling drinking horns. One of them was selling raw horns, they had just been boiled. My brother and I bought a horn each. My dad have made a drinking horn before and told us how to do it. You use the knife to carve away all of the ‘loose’ horn (as you can see my horn had quite a lot of it), then you place the knife 90 degrees to the horn and scrape towards the tip. This will make the horn smooth and comfortable to hold. You keep doing this until you like what you have and it feels good in your hand..

And that is about as far as I am so far. More info will come as soon as it is done.

About me and Larp.

Why this site:
Well, when ever I research something to do with larp props or costumes I find tons and tons of pages of useless information and some withreally usefull stuff. I also have ideas that I can't seem to find any information on. So this will be a collection of my discoveries and expiriments. There will also be links to the most usefull online places I know of and some of the places where I get my inspiration. And in case you wondered, the word stæsj is the norwegian larp word props and stuff.

About me and Larp:
Well, I went to my first larp in 2004 at the age of 17. At that time I had been roleplaying for 3 years and interested in larping for about the same time. The larp I went to was kind of special, it was suposed to be a Tolkien larp, but the real larp got cancelled. That did not stop a group of us, who got together and larped anyway. We had no plot, no ST/GM/IL/what-ever-you-want-to-call-them and out of 16 players, 10 was first timers. for about half a year ahead of this I had been an active member of the Norwegian larp community, soaking up all the information I could get, and I have been since. I do not larp much I have to admit that, but I constanly plan characters, costumes and props, and hopefully through this blog, I will make them.
